Johannes Hedegaard represents Danish and international clients in contentious matters before the Danish courts and in arbitration.
Johannes Hedegaardhas broad experience with contentious matters and has acted as counsel in a wide range of high-stakes disputes before the Danish courts and in arbitration. He has particular experience with contentious matters related to insolvency, IT, company law/shareholder disputes, management liability, professional liability, and white collar crime.
- Represents a Nordic listed company in a 1bn DKK contractual dispute before the Maritime and Commercial Court involving a number of technical issues related to IT
- Represents a Danish property company in a long-standing and wide ranging dispute with minority shareholders involving more than 12 court cases over a period 6 years
- Represented a European PE-fund in arbitration in relation to a fraud claim arising from an M&A-transaction
- Represented a group of individuals (“the quota kings”) with a claim against the Danish government for negligent prosecution following a landmark acquittal secured in 2022 of a prosecution for alleged breach of fishing quotas involving fines and confiscation in excess of 400m DKK ()
- Represented a bankruptcy estate before the Eastern High Court with a landmark management liability claim against its former directors (UfR Ø)
- Represented a major Danish transportation provider in arbitration with a major Danish IT developer concerning an ERP-implementation
- Represented a Nordic bank before the Eastern High Court as first instance against the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority before the Eastern High Court relating to the requirement to complete credit worthiness assessments, and subsequent appeal proceedings before the Supreme Court (UfR )
- Represented a major Danish financial institution in arbitration against an international insurance company in relation to a D&O-coverage dispute
- Represented a Nordic listed company in a dispute before the Maritime and Commercial Court concerning contractual claims arising from legislative changes to German law
- Represented a group of individuals and companies before the Eastern High Court as first instance against the HMRC with respect to a claim based on English law
- 2021 Rights of Appearance before the High Courts of Denmark
- 2019-2025 Member of the Danish Debt Collection Agency's Panel of Insolvency Practitioners for the area of jurisdiction of the Maritime- and Commercial Court of Copenhagen
