Our history

Although we have a long history, we have long since shaken off the dust of previous centuries. Innovation and readiness for change are core values of our firm. Our history is first and foremost a daily reminder of our shared ambition: to develop into an even better firm and an even stronger community.

We have made a conscious choice not to be full service. In our view, it is neither credible nor sustainable to try to be the best at everything. Therefore, we focus on three areas: M&A, Real Estate, and Litigation. This allows us to understand the businesses we advise in depth and to find solutions that set new standards.

Not being full service also means that we are more agile. With an average partner age below the market average, we are close to a reality that demands innovation in both solutions and forms of collaboration.

Bruun & Hjejle's history begins in 1878, when Supreme Court attorney Charles Shaw founded the firm that later became known as Hjejle Gersted Mogensen. In 1922, Supreme Court attorney H.H. Bruun founded his law firm, which later came to bear the name of his son, Jonas Bruun. Both firms were among the leading in the industry for decades. In 2009, they merged and formed Bruun & Hjejle with the desire to create a strong, community-oriented law firm driven by some of the country's leading lawyers.

We insist on being different. We put the team before the ego and believe in solution-oriented advisory services with clear recommendations. We do not merely present scenarios, but have opinions. We are legal advisors who actually dare to advise.
